First aid is one of the few requirements that follows a personal trainer through every stage of their career, from qualifying to registering to renewing insurance each year. The specifics vary between registration bodies, insurers and individual gyms, so confirm the detail with yours. The general pattern is consistent across the industry.
Note that HLTAID011 contains HLTAID009 within it. Completing the full first aid course covers both at once, but the CPR component still needs refreshing annually even though the first aid certificate lasts three years.
Facilities carry their own liability, and most require every trainer working on their floor to provide current certificates regardless of whether they are employed or renting space. Contractors and mobile trainers are usually asked for the same evidence by the venues, parks authorities and body corporates they operate from.
Exercise raises cardiac demand, which is exactly why cardiac events surface during training sessions. Personal trainers also work with older clients, with people returning from injury and with people managing chronic conditions. You are frequently the only person present with any health related training, and the client is exerting themselves under your instruction.
The CPR unit takes about ninety minutes in person after a short online component. Provide First Aid takes about three hours. Trainers commonly book a mid morning session between the early and evening client blocks. Certificates are issued the same day, so you can upload evidence to your registration body or insurer immediately.
